The Role: No experience is required, full training is provided. All we need are individuals with great values (real people people).We are looking for people to provide effective support to enable people with disabilities to live their lives to the full.

This includes:

People Supported:

  1. Enable people to achieve their full potential.
  2. Support people to fulfil their wishes expressed day-by-day and identified in their Person Centred Plans.
  3. Promote and act within the ten beliefs of Options (see attached)
  4. Support people in the day-to-day tasks involved in ordinary living.
  5. To support people through difficult times when they may injure themselves, be verbally abuse to staff and others around them, or attempt to hurt those around them. (Very occasionally restraint may be required.)
  6. Support and encourage people to take part in the things that they enjoy or might grow to enjoy.
  7. Understand and respect the relationships, which are important to people supported.
  8. Maximise the safety of people supported, staff and the community within the overall goal of supporting people to achieve positive outcomes in his/her life.
  9. Support people to go on holiday.
  10. Work consistently within Guidelines for Support, which ensure people are well supported, when anxious or worried or angry.
  11. Provide support for personal needs, including all aspects of personal care.
  12. To provide personal care for the people we support who need it. This means supporting a person bathing, washing, shaving, drinking eating, going to the toilet and changing pads.
  13. Ensure safe administration of medication and completion of full and accurate records.
  14. To maintain records necessary to support people effectively.


Staff Team:

  1. Contribute to and participate in a team-based approach.
  2. Work to complete your responsibilities within the Team Action Plan.
  3. Attend training, development and team meetings, which may be additional to contracted hours.
  4. Take part in regular support and supervision.
  5. Act as a role model for those around you.
  6. Work within Options Working Values (copy attached).
  7. To provide personal care for the people we support who need it.

 

Finances and Administration:

  1. Keep full records of all income and expenditure.
  2. Fully comply with the financial and administrative procedures of Options.

 

Management and Options:

  1. Participate in the on-call system (when suitably experienced – after completion of Probationary Period) and to work sleep-ins or waking nights when required.
  2. Work to all Options policies and procedures.
  3. Promote positive relationships with those closest to people supported, and all others helping to support them.
  4. Shape Options by expressing your views and contributing to how it develops.


Self-Development:

  1. Attend and participate in all training and development as identified to develop one’s own skills, and abilities.
  2. Maintain a constant desire to learn and develop.


You will have the following qualities:

  1. Committed to and passionate about supporting and developing others.
  2. Has a person-centred approach, seeing people as people, irrespective of disability.
  3. Have a clear desire and commitment to working to values openly and honestly.
  4. A Full UK Driving Licence would be beneficial for some posts.
